Leading tour company in Ghana christened Pacific Tours embarked on a journey with thirty Ghanaians to the highest mountain in Ghana Afadjato.
Mountain Afadjato or Mount Afadja is one of the highest mountains in Ghana standing at an elevation of 885 meters. The mountain is located in the Agumatsa Range near the villages of Gbledi and Liati Wote, in the Volta Region of Ghana at the border with Togo.
Arrival at mount Afadja witnessed a warm welcome harmattan weather were tour guide Michael Aboakye gave a brief history about the highest mountain.
Out of thirty people who embarked on the journey to the highest mountain, few made it to the top of the mountain.
In an interview with mount Afadja’s tour guide Michael Aboakye, he revealed the need to package the highest mountain very well to boost our tourism sector.
According to him, we have Tagbo Falls and Mount Afadja these two are really doing well because many people during holidays visit this places and our roads are not well tarred.
“I’ve worked here for the past 11 years and won the Best Tour Guide in 2005 but my take home is nothing to write home about if not for the passion I’ve for the job as a tour guide”, he said.
He continued that, we Ghanaians need to package Afadjato very well to attract more people to visit whenever they’re in Volta Region.
For his part, President of Tour Operators Union of Ghana [TOUGHA] Mr. Kwesi Eyison averred the need to make Afadja well packaged to attract more tourist to visit Ghana and Volta Region.
“There’s nothing interesting when you get on top of the mountain… the only thing you see is just placards inscribed Afadjato… but more can be done to make Afadjato more interesting when tourist comes for visit”, he averred.
